21st March 2025 : 10:17am, by admin

At the London College of Beauty Therapy, we believe in preparing our students for real-world success. That’s why we were excited to welcome Jo Wong, a Business Development and Transformation Specialist with experience in beauty, fashion and wellness, for an exclusive careers workshop on personal branding and career growth.

What Did the Workshop Involve?

Jo started by sharing her career journey, explaining how she built her own brand and the steps she took to establish herself in the industry. She then led an interactive session where students explored their personal brand identity by identifying their values, strengthens and unique attributes.

By the end of the session, students had created their own brand statements and shared them with Jo and the group, gaining valuable feedback on how to present themselves professionally.

Vision Mission Statements

A key part of the workshop was creating vision statements. Students were asked to think about their future by answering:

  • What’s your top career goal for the next 5 years?
  • What specific skill do you want to be known for?
  • What positive difference do you want to make in your field?
  • What’s one word you want people to associate with you professionally?

This activity encouraged students to set clear goals and think about how they can stand out in the beauty industry.

Key Benefits for Students

At the end of each session, students had the chance to ask Jo career-related questions. She even shared her business contacts, giving student an amazing networking opportunity.

This session gave students a real insight into launching a successful career, whether they dream of working for top beauty brands or starting their own business.

Intrapreneur vs. Entrepreneur

Jo also explained the difference between being an intrapreneur and an entrepreneur:

  • Entrepreneurs create a new business from scratch, identifying a market need and turning it into a successful venture.
  • Intrapreneurs work within an existing company, bringing innovative ideas and using company resources to develop projects.

This helped students explore different career options – whether they want to start their own business or making an impact within an established company.

Jo’s Advice on Personal Branding

Jo highlighted the importance of self-management, appearance and communication in making a strong impression. She encouraged students to be authentic and professional, focusing on:
