Taisha’s Journey to Becoming a Professional Make-Up Artist

Meet Taisha Sherwood, a talented freelance make-up artist who started her career at the London College of Beauty Therapy. She is now a professional make-up artist, working on exciting projects such as creating Nicole Scherzinger’s make-up look for Wimbledon.
From LCBT to Freelance Make-Up Success
Taisha Sherwood began her journey in the beauty industry by enrolling on to our Level 2 Hair & Media Make-Up Diploma.
During her time at LCBT, she developed essential make-up and hair styling skills, practicing at the on-site salon and gaining valuable hands-on experience with real clients. After completing her course, Taisha worked at KIKO Milano, boosting her skills and confidence, before advancing to an Assistant Manager position at MAC Cosmetics.
Wanting more freedom and creative control, she decided to go freelance. Taisha now works on high-profile projects like creating Nicole Scherzinger’s stunning make-up look for Wimbledon!

How LCBT Shaped Her Career
At LCBT, Taisha gained more than just practical skills – she also learnt how to navigate the beauty industry. From discovering the history of beauty (including the influence of drag) to learning the importance of professionalism, LCBT’s expert tutors helped her build a solid foundation for her career.
Taisha also made use of the opportunities available at LCBT, including practicing in the on-site salon and attending industry events. She remains connected to the LCBT community and loves seeing how her fellow alumni have progressed in their careers.

About the Level 2 Hair & Media Make-Up Diploma
This one-year course is ideal for students aged 16-18 who want to start a career in the beauty industry. With classes held two days a week, it’s easy to balance studying with part-time work. You’ll learn essential skills in hair styling and make-up for TV, film, theatre and fashion, preparing you for a successful career in beauty.
Taisha’s Advice for Future Students
Taisha encourages future students to take full advantage of the opportunities at LCBT, including using the on-site salon and attending industry events. She emphasises that success in the beauty industry comes from not only technical skills but also being compassionate, professional and maintaining a positive attitude.
