What is a Spa Therapist and How to Become One

Spa therapists are trained beauty professionals who provide a wide-range of treatments to promote physical relaxation, muscle recovery and mental wellbeing. They work in luxury spas, wellness centres and resorts, and deliver treatments like massages, facials and manicures. They work towards improving skincare, relieving stress and supporting overall health.

What Do Spa Therapists Do?

As well as providing treatments to enhance body and mind wellness, spa therapists are also responsible for:

• Creating a calm and welcoming environment
• Answering client questions and recommending appropriate treatments
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards

How to Become a Spa Therapist with LCBT

To start your career as a Spa Therapist, you’ll need to develop the right knowledge and skills in areas like massage and skincare. At LCBT, we offer a clear route into the industry with our Beauty Therapy diplomas:

• Level 2 Beauty Therapy (16-18 year olds): This one year-course is the perfect starting point. You’ll build essential skills like facials, waxing and nail treatments, preparing you to progress on to the Level 3 Diploma.
• Level 3 Beauty Therapy (16-18 year olds): After completing Level 2, you can move on to our Level 3 course. You’ll learn more advanced techniques, helping you become fully qualified to start your career in the industry.
• 19+ Level 3 Beauty Therapy (19+): Similarly, this one-year course offers Level 3 units, but for adult learners only. If you haven’t completed the Level 2 units, it will include those too.
