A TAILORED APPROACH

LCBT has been working with employers for over 20 years delivering training to meet the skills needs of the Beauty, Retail and Wellness industries.  We can work with you to deliver a training package for your apprentices that work to your specific skills needs.

THE LEVY

From May 2017 companies with an annual payroll of over £3million will have begun to pay into the Apprenticeship Levy.  Regardless of whether a company currently employs an apprentice or not, this levy tax at a rate of 0.5% will be payable by employers in the UK through PAYE alongside Tax and National Insurance.

How will it affect your business?

  • Apprenticeships are being expanded from April 2017, with many new ‘Standards’ available for delivery
  • The Levy only applies to large employers with an annual payroll of over £3million per annum
  • For those who do have to pay, in the UK it will be at a rate of 0.5% of the payroll cost through PAYE
  • Public sector employers will also pay the Levy if their payroll meets the above.  In addition – 2.32% of their employees must be an apprentice!

SMALL/MEDIUM SIZE BUSINESSES

If you are a small or medium size business with less than a £3million payroll you will not be paying into the Levy.  The good news is that you are still able to take on apprentices and have a significantly reduced rate to contribute towards their training, or possibly nothing (depending on apprentice’s age).

The new Apprenticeship Standards only require a 10% contribution from the employer for apprentice’s who are aged 19 years and older.  If you take on an apprentice who is aged between 16-18 years old, there is no fee.  The Government are also offering employers £1,000 for taking on 16-18 apprentice’s too! THE TEAM

The apprenticeship team will work with you and your business to identify your needs and the apprentice’s.  Our aim is to deliver high quality training and development in partnership with you as the employer.

The apprentice will be allocated a dedicated Learning & Development Trainer to provide training, support and development, as well as involving the employer with regular Learning and Mentoring meetings.
