Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
I hope this finds you and your families well.
Following the announcement from the Prime Minister yesterday evening of a new national lockdown, I can confirm that all learning will continue remotely in the coming weeks, until such time as schools and College’s in London are able to open.
Your child will be asked to join lessons remotely via Microsoft Teams and will have received an induction in the first week with us of how to use this. Learners will be expected to register with their tutor by 10 am by joining the link provided and take part in the learning plan and actions for the day. We will use this time as effectively as possible to focus on the theory aspects of the course, as well as some practical elements that are possible to do remotely. We will then resume with the practical training as soon as we are able to be back in College once again.
We do not know how long the lockdown will last, but please be assured that we will support all learners to complete their courses successfully and can extend courses if necessary should learners need more time with the practical element of the course. We were successful last year at supporting all learners to achieve despite the lockdown, and this year we will continue to do the same. What is important however is that they continue to attend classes online and participate with the work and activities that are set.
We work best when we work in partnership with you as parents to support learners. If your child is finding any element of the remote learning challenging or requires any additional support please do ask your child to speak with their lecturer, or please do reach out on their behalf.
Each learner will have an individual learning plan, and an opportunity to review this with their lecturer and this is a great opportunity for them to raise any issue or challenges. It is also an opportunity to discuss their aspirations for where in industry they would like to work.
I know that this is a challenging time for all, but hopefully were are on the last stretch of this time in lockdown. Whilst the Beauty, Hair, Make up and Fitness industries are facing lockdown, they will open again soon and I know many brands are working on exciting developments for 2021. When they open they will continue to need skilled and quality staff to work with them, and they will look to LCBT graduates to fill those opportunities. Please work with us to encourage your child to remain committed to their studies so they stand ready to take up these opportunities when we return to working life being open again.
