In-college learning
We offer our students world-class teaching and learning resources. The learning experience has been planned to be flexible, stimulating, and industry-focused.
Learning Resources
Our lecture rooms are equipped with the most up to date teaching resources and our teaching staff have all the necessary qualifications (with at least 5 years commercial experience).
The College makes extensive use of interactive technology and we have two Resource Centres dedicated to it.
Your own personal file, which is opened when you enrol on a programme, comes with a unique pin number to allow you access to it. You will also be able to access all the necessary learning materials, visit your virtual classroom and talk to your personal tutor using it. Flash drives, (available from the College) store the work you do away from College for easy download to your personal file.
As a result of your constant exposure to IT your skills and knowledge in this area will be highly developed. Information Technology skills are becoming increasingly important in the beauty industry and you will use it for numerous activities as you move through your course. Don't worry if you haven't used computers before, or need some confidence building, we have a learning support team to help you.
Practical Training
Training in practical skills is carried out in our flexible training rooms. In the early stages of learning you will practice your skills on other members of your class moving on to the general public to hone your skills later in your course. Some of our equipment is so up-to-date that it isn't included in the NVQ qualification, but is used extensively in the industry. We give you the chance to learn how to use this equipment, improving your skills portfolio and preparing you for employment within the sector.
Additional Training & Events
You will also have the opportunity to engage in other additional treatment training from external companies who come into the College to give demonstrations. This is available at a small additional charge, payable to the visiting company.
Attending, and participating in, external events and exhibitions is an important mandatory activity and forms an important part of your course. It helps you to understand, and gain a deeper knowledge of, the industry and build the self-confidence necessary to work in a pressurised environment. You may be required to attend these events on days when you wouldn't normally be in college.
Learning Support
You will be asked by the Admissions Advisor to provide information of any extra support you believe you may require. This may take the form of teaching support, study support or disability support. You can approach your personal tutor at any time during your course to discuss your requirements.
Your Personal Tutor
All students enrolled on a course are assigned a personal tutor who follows them through their programme. You have access to your tutor throughout your time on your course through weekly tutorial meetings and through your e-portal to discuss the progress you are making, and to raise any queries you may have.
To be successful today in the Beauty Industry it's extremely important to have a wide range of skills.
