The inaugural SME Advice was a definite success, despite poor attendance. The purpose of the initial SME Clinic was to gather feedback from SMEs on the types of issues they want to raise at all future SME Clinics. There will be another 11 during the 06/07 academic year.
The evening was kept quite informal. Ellie introduced the services of the BSU briefly and highlighted the work of LCBT as the ‘voice of the industry’. Four of the five SMEs in attendance had previously engaged with LCBT through the Business Support Unit and one SME was new to LCBT entirely.
Ben Long discussed Lumiere; the Advanced Light Therapy system. LCBT offers training in Lumiere and has treatments available in our Salon. Ben first discussed the background of the treatment. It was originally developed by Cancer Research UK for Medical use. As we grow older, cellular regeneration and the production of collagen, the major supporting protein of the body, slows down. Skin cells become lazy resulting in us showing signs of ageing. Lumiere uses 100% Pure and Natural Light that has been medically proven to stimulate the production of collagen, hydrate the skin and improve skin tone and texture.
Benefits of the treatment include:
• Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
• Improves skin tone and texture
• Oxygenates & Detoxifies the Skin
• Hydrates the skin
• Reduces redness and pore size
• Rejuvenates the skin
Ben’s presentation sparked a group discussion on various related topics such as Seasonal Affective Disorder, acne treatments, sun damage to the skin. Ben distributed Literature about Lumiere and gave Website details which can be referred to for further info (www.light-therapy.eu).
The attendees provided positive feedback for the event, completing the demand capture for future events. These are currently being collated, amongst others returned by SMEs who were not able to attend on this occasion. The attendees all expressed an interest in attending the next clinic and we are expecting attendance from additional SME’s to be higher.
