The format for this month’s Clinic was slightly different to previous Clinics due to the nature of the topic. Finance and Tax is quite a person-specific topic so instead of having guest speakers giving presentations, we arranged for Consultants/Advisors to come in to offer one-to-one advice. We arranged for Consultants from HM Revenue and Customs and Business Advisors from Natwest to come in and offer our attendees advice on Taxation and Finance. We organised tables around the room so the different advisors could offer personal advice. This format worked really well and the attendees were able to gain person-specific guidance.
Business Link was unable to attend this evening’s Clinic but Nadine Bokhoory emailed over some factsheets on topics such as raising finance, an Introduction to Tax and NI and common VAT problems which were very useful for the Self Employed and Mobile Therapists.
There was a good mix of attendees. For this Clinic the BSU decided to invite along some of the students that we have worked with in advising them of self-employment or setting up their own Business. Finance and Taxation is a particularly relevant topic for them, especially as they are in the early stages of their Business. There were a number of Salon Owners, Managers and Self-Employed individuals who also attended.
The evening was another great triumph! The BSU are successfully building our network so are in a better position to offer advice and support to our customers and clients. All of the attendees were able to get person-specific advice tailored to their particular situation and also had the chance to network in between talking to Consultants. The attendees all stated that the advice they received was invaluable. We have had extremely positive feedback so far from the Clinics we have run which is good to hear.
