Eileen Cavalier, CEO London College of Beauty Therapy (LCBT), has received an OBE for Services to Further Education in the New Year honours list. The Association of Learning Providers nominated Eileen for an honour in recognition of the impact she has made in improving education and skill levels in the beauty industry through the work of LCBT, which she founded in 1995.

Through the college, Eileen has provided the opportunity for thousands of young people and adults from diverse ethnic backgrounds, many of whom were formerly excluded from training due to their financial circumstances, to obtain the qualifications and skills required to embark on lifetime careers in beauty – an industry in desperate need of ever-increasing numbers of trained employees.

LCBT is the UK’s largest specialist beauty training college with over 1100 beauty therapy students. Success results are consistently outstanding with retention and achievement rates of over 90% and with 90% of students going into employment or continuing in further education.

In 2006, LCBT launched the Retail Beauty Consultancy Diploma (Level 2) – the first national qualification for store, spa and salon based beauty consultants. A Level 3 qualification for supervisory staff will be launched this year. The Hair and Beauty Diploma for school pupils is also taught at the college.

Eileen has recently been appointed to the Board of the CBI London Region Council.
